Senior Revenue Accountant

As our Staff Revenue Accountant, you will play a key role in Zilliant’s monthly revenue-close, customer invoicing & collection, sales tax assessments and sales commission accounting. The ideal candidate must be able to establish a routine, detailed process for maintaining various aspects of our revenue and collections cycle on a daily and weekly basis, be an integral player in our timely month end close process, as well as be a trusted source to explain various aspects of invoices, collections, and commissions calculation to internal and external stakeholders. This role is a remote opportunity with the exception travel to Austin, TX for company events & planning meetings (~2 times annually). For candidates in/near the Austin, TX, area the role would be remote, but with the option to work onsite at your discretion.   We offer a competitive salary and benefits, along with an opportunity to play a leadership role in building out a strong and effective revenue and billing team.

What you will do:
  • Be able to interpret customer contracts and how they should be implemented in our various systems.
  • Assist the Revenue Manager with setting up new customer contracts as Sales Orders and Revenue Arrangements in NetSuite. Invoice all customers on a timely basis based upon their customer subscription contracts,
  • Invoice professional services monthly working with the Revenue Manager and the Director of Services with taking the hours from excel workbooks and creating the invoices in NetSuite.  We are looking at possibly using the Project based system in NetSuite in the future to help with this so any experience with this module would be a plus.
  • Be able to navigate various 3rd party platforms some customers use for invoice submissions and payments.
  • Be able to interact with a diverse group of customer procurement and AP groups, as we have an international customer footprint, which requires this role to have a professional, friendly, and effective method of solving issues to ensure timely payments from customers.
  • Make sure sales tax, as applicable, is properly assessed on invoices and ensure the Avalara tax system correctly captures that tax and reports the correct amounts to various states.
  • Work with the Revenue Manager and Sales Operations to create commission tracking files, calculate commissions, and provide communication around payment to sales and payroll.
  • We are also exploring a 3rd party Sales Commission tracking platform, so any experience with such a system is a big plus for this role.
  • Support audit activities and be the main point of contact for all customer invoicing and sales commissions cycle testing and explanations.
  • Research and resolve any discrepancies identified in monthly revenue commission expense numbers and explain variances.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within current processes and systems.
  • Be able to work with a diverse group of stakeholders, including the Accounting Team, the FP&A team, and the Sales Team
  • Special projects as assigned.
What you should have:
  • Up to date knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to revenue recognition (ASC 606)
  • Strong customer service skills – both externally and internally
  • Experience working for a fast-paced SaaS organization.
  • NetSuite experience a strong plus.
  • Commission tracking systems a strong plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Avalara experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • CPA with audit experience, Big 4/regional experience preferred, but not required.
  • 4-6+ years relevant experience
  • BA/BS in Accounting
